November 2016

In November 2016 two of our attorneys were honored at separate events, for their dedication to Long Island communities.

Our partner, James B. Baydar, Esq. was presented with a Leadership in Law awards event where there were more than 300 attendees. The awards event was hosted by the Long Island Business News on November 17 in Woodbury, NY. James Baydar was recognized for his leadership having a positive impact, and his outstanding achievements. Baydar advocates for clients through complex and contentious court proceedings, in the years following successful resolution of their cases. He provides legal counsel on preserving and best utilizing clients’ verdict awards and settlement funds to pay for their lifetime. Gary M. Nielsen, Esq. accepted a 2016 Champions for Families Award from RotaCare NY on November 17 at an event held at the Mercer School of Theology. The nonprofit serves uninsured people living in poverty, with free health care screenings, exams, and medications by an all-volunteer crew of healthcare professionals. Nielsen is an attorney with more than 30 years of experience as a trial and appellate advocate, and has represented hundreds of clients, including many victims of avoidable medical errors. He maintains the highest "AV" rating from Martindale Hubbell and has since 1999, in peer recognition of his legal ability, ethics, judgment and experience.


June 2016

In June 2016, the entire firm attended the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association Annual installation dinner, as colleague Linda Oliva, Esq. was sworn in as (volunteer) President on the executive board of the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association (NCWBA). Ms. Oliva will serve a one year term as President for the 2016-2017 year.


April 2016

Pegalis & Erickson, LLC offered 100 attorneys a no-cost evening of Continuing Legal Education and a reception on April 12 at New York Law School. Steven Pegalis moderated a panel discussion entitled" Cutting Edge 21st Century Health Care Initiatives Motivating Health Care Providers to be Safer and More Effective


3/10/15 @ 1:30PM: Being A Smart Patient Workshop

Next month we are hosting a community workshop. Annamarie Bondi-Stoddard will speak at the Union Baptist Church in Hempstead on March 10, at 1:30 PM How to be a Proactive Patient" will cover tips for preparing for doctor's visits, lab tests, and preventing medical errors. Our next workshop is on May 14 in Roosevelt, so stay tuned for details!


3/13/15 @ 8:30AM-12:30PM: Avoiding Ethical Problems in Online Legal Marketing Seminar

5/14/15 @ 11:00AM: How to be a Smart Patient Presentation

Most everyone in the U.S. has doctors’ visits and medical tests in their lifetime. For many of us, it begins before we are born. . On Thursday, May 14, Long Island award-winning trial attorney Robert V. Fallarino, Esq., will share tips for being a smart healthcare consumer, including:

  • How to prepare to visit a new doctor and get the most out of every doctor’s appointment
  • What types of medical records you should maintain and/or obtain
  • What to find out before you schedule a lab test
  • How to take an active role in working with your doctor or nurse when you are ill
  • What we can each do ourselves to prevent diagnostic medical errors
